Showboat Gaining Steam
Philadelphia based developer Bart Blatstein’s Showboat property opened on July 8th. The former casino will now be a hotel only. The facility currently offers 850 rooms for booking and about 500 more will be available in the coming year. There are two restaurants and a coffee shop in the hotel. Atlantic City Eatery serves “all-American” fare and the Worship Surf Bar is touted as a “flip flop-friendly” restaurant and bar offering beach service (in season). Blatstein plans to rebrand the property as a destination for millenials, so the non-gaming hotel will be taking on a new complexion.
The hotel’s website, showboathotelac.com, is taking reservations and there were over 100 rooms booked on opening night. With over 200 employees, the old Showboat is bright spot for Atlantic City’s economy. Philadelphia’s KYW televison news covered the opening. Watch the video»
